The Avaya S8300 Media Server and Avaya
G700 Media Gateway Combination offers
enhanced conferencing, call center capability,
multi-site support, centralized voice
mail, remote access, etc.
The S8300 and G700 combination can function
as a total converged standalone solution
for small offices, or a remote edge
device for a larger enterprise network
when configured with S8700 Media Server.
For example, in the event of WAN failure,
the S8300 can take over all the control
processing of S8700, allowing enterprises
to continue their mission critical business
operations.

S8300 Installation in G700 - The physical
installation for the S8300 Media Server
module will differ from other Media
Modules due to its height. The S8300
Media Server still plugs into a Media
Module slot but is restricted to the
left most slot under the LED board and
panel. When installing or removing the
Avaya S8300 Media Server, the S8300
and LED board must be removed as a single
unit. This is because the LED faceplate/panel
will hit the tall components on the
S8300, resulting in damage to the hardware,
if it is not removed at the same time.
Software licenses must be purchased
to activate the S8300. This software
will allow the S8300 to be used as a
server or as a Local Survivable Processor
(LSP).
